Special Practice Responsibilities
David studied for his MBChB on the slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. After a house officer year at Groote Schuur Hospital, he moved to the UK and spent the next four years working in the NHS, during which time he passed the MRCP exam. Happily, he emigrated to New Zealand in 2003 and worked as a medical registrar in Auckland for eighteen months before moving to Christchurch for his microbiology training. He completed his FRCPA training at Medlab South in 2009.
David’s particular interests include travel medicine, multidrug resistant bacteria and infection control, having seen the impact of poor infection control practice too many times.
