Special Practice Responsibilities
Dr Mark Houghton attended Otago Medical School, University of Otago, commencing pre-clinical studies in Dunedin then clinical training in Christchurch. Following graduation in 1998 he was based at Christchurch Hospital for two years as a House Surgeon.
After a period working in Australia and the United Kingdom, Mark returned to Auckland to commence training as a Pathology registrar. Initial enrolment was as a General Pathology trainee but this was converted to Anatomic Pathology training and requirements for his FRCPA in Anatomic Pathology were completed in 2007 after rotations throughout the Hospitals and Laboratories of the Auckland region.
On completing his FRCPA in 2007, Dr Houghton moved to Nelson to join Medlab South at Nelson Hospital where he is able to pursue a wide range of professional interests.
